This very detailed view of Venice painted circa 1730 by the Italian master Canaletto represents The Return of the Bucintoro at the Molo. The Bucintoro was a ship covered in gold which could be admired in Venice on Ascension Day - the day celebrating the marriage of the doge to the sea.
