William Glackens was an American artist born in 1870 and deceased in 1938. Influenced by French Impressionists, he was nicknamed 'the American Renoir'. The artist spent the summer of 1910 in Chester, New Scotland, where he painted this lively, colourful beach scene. The canvas is part of the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia.
This painting reflects the artist's enchantment with observing and transcribing summer past times. You will have just as much fun, assembling this puzzle full of tiny sketches. The cut highlights the Impressionist touch of the artist, and follows the outlines of the figures who almost seem to be moving. The contrasted colors will help you separate the different groups of pieces.
