Alain Thomas is a contemporary painter from Nantes, France, considered the leader of the naïf primitive school. Using naturalistic precision, in this work he depicts a dazzling Quetzal – the bird emblem of Peru. The vegetation is imaginary but uses some real-life plants. As is typical of Thomas, we see a butterfly, an insect and a red ibis in the background.
