Inspired by Symbolism and Japanese prints, Gustav Klimt was the Austrian leader of Art Nouveau. "The Kiss" is part of a series commissioned in 1907 by Baron Stoclet to decorate his palace in Brussels. This painting is currently on display at the Museum of Vienna in Austria.
