Along with Hokusai, Ando or Utagawa Hiroshige was the most famous artist of Japanese prints. This work is part of his 'One hundred famous views of EdoÂ’ series which, unconventionally, included many vertical views. This one depicts the landscape surrounding the Sumida River which crosses Tokyo.
