Claude Monet made this painting during winter 1868-1869, it is now exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. It illustrates the beginning of Monet's research on early morning light. Have a look at the shadow of the magpie: it is reversed for aesthetic reasons. This painting novelty and daring were rejected by the 1869 jury of Paris.
