This print reveals all the hallmarks of Japanese painter Utagawa Kunisada, one of the most prolific artists of the golden age of Japanese ukiyo-e prints. Dating from the 19th century, it depicts a traditional music concert in Edo (now Tokyo) at Horikawa Palace. It is one of a series of images documenting Japanese customs and daily life, offering a valuable insight into the period.
