Vincent Van Gogh painted this work, Landscape with a Carriage and a Train, in Auvers-sur-Oise, a small town to the north of Paris where he lived the last months of his life in the summer of 1890. The canvas is separated by two horizontal lines: the white road and, in the background, a train and its long chain of smoke. The artist completed 70 paintings in Auvers.
