Wassily Kandinsky is one of the most important painters of the 20th century, along with Picasso and Matisse. Born in Russia, he later lived in Germany and, from 1933, in France.
He was the inventor of abstract art - a kind of art that does not seek to imitate nature. Kandinsky painted this artwork in 1926, in gratitude to his friend Will Grohmann - a great German art critic who helped launch abstract painters. For inspiration, Kandinsky used line and colour rather than the real world. He made extensive use of geometric shapes: triangles, circles and rectangles. Look for them in this painting. He was also influenced by music - for him different sounds had a corresponding colour.

The puzzles are eco-friendly and made from wood from renewable forests.
