This Mongolian miniature, executed around 1590, is an illustration in 'The Akbarnama' or 'The book of Akbar' - an official history of the reign of the third Mongolian emperor Jalal al-Din Muhammad Akbar. The miniature represents The Flight of Sultan Bahadur during the Humayun's Campaign in Gujarat - a region situated to the west of India.
